Log Book Servicing

Many car owners are under the impression that they must have their vehicle serviced at the dealer they purchased the car from to keep their warranty valid. Not True..... here at New Belgrave Motors we service cars, SUVs and four wheel drives of all makes and models.

We provide a high standard of service to meet manufacturer’s specifications and use appropriate quality parts including genuine, if required, to keep your warranty intact. Your log book will be filled out to keep a record of your regular service to assure a better resale value. To help minimise disruption to your daily life New Belgrave Motors also offer a local pickup and drop off service or a courtesy car whilst your car is being serviced.

Do I need to service my car once warranty is expired?

Even if your warranty has expired, New Belgrave Motors still recommends having your vehicle serviced regularly. As a rule of thumb, your car should be checked at least twice or three times a year, or every 5,000 to 10,000kms. Neglecting your car’s service can have costly and unexpected repairs or breakdowns later on. Regular servicing will prolong your car’s engine life, reduce fuel usage, prevent excessive wear of moving parts, identify potential car repairs and maintain roadworthiness. A well serviced and maintained car will even improve resale value.

How often do I need my car serviced?

This will depend on your car’s make and model and your car’s handbook will outline when you should bring your car in for servicing. There are two types of log book car servicing required: minor or major servicing. Generally, minor car services are required every 5,000 to 10,000kms and major car services required every 30,000 to 40,000kms. If you are not sure when your car’s next log book service is due, please call us on 03 9754 3048 to find out.

What’s involved in my car’s minor and major log book service?

While your car’s servicing needs may depend on your car’s make and model, a minor service will involve:

  • Engine oil drained, new oil filter fitted and new engine oil
  • Total car inspection (fluids, filters, belts, hoses, brakes, emissions, wipers, lights)
  • Tyre check and rotation
  • Door hinges lubricated
  • Fluids topped up as necessary
  • Road Test
  • Full report of any further work to be undertaken

Although not performed as frequently, a major car service will help protect your car’s warranty, increase your car’s safety and improve your car’s resale value. Again, depending on your car’s make and model and kilometres, a major service may involve:

  • All minor service inspections
  • Engine check
  • Spark plug replacement
  • Fuel Filter replacement
  • Cabin/Pollen filters check/replacement
  • Brake fluid flush
  • Coolant flush
  • Transmission service
  • Wheel alignment
  • Wheel Balance
  • Suspension check
  • Repack and/or adjust wheel bearings
  • Timing belt replacement
  • Full-vehicle inspection
  • Correction of any issues
  • Tuning if necessary
